This weekend: ED Fest in Madisonville
For those of you familiar with Monroe County, plan on heading out to Kefauver Park on Saturday, JuneĀ 6, for the second annual ED Fest, a Civil Servant Appreciation Day event and free music festival. No charge to attend, and I’m not sure what time it starts, but judging by the activities on the bill, I would suggest getting there early. Organized by Eddie Repass and his wife, Connie, the day’s events will include performances by Repass himself, his kids (Luke and Danielle Repass), Linsey Alexander and the Hoochie Men Blues Band from Chicago, The Dreamcatcher Band, Southbound, 2008 Rising Star of Tennessee youth finalist Laurel Dunn (with country music fixture Cooter Daniel), Hanover Fist, 2009 Rising Star Youth Winner Jordan Davis, classic rockers Empty Chamber, seventh-graders Kristen and Halea Lingerfelt, Jonathan Hall and Isaac Leinart.
Other events: “Guns vs. Hoses,” the annual tug-of-war between the Madisonville Fire and Police departments; a Fire Safety House provided by the Alcoa Fire Department, Sparky the Fire Dog, brought by the Vonore Fire Department, Smokey the Bear, games for kids, a climbing wall and more.
