			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Halloween</strong> is Saturday night, but if you don’t want to wait in the garden to try and get a glimpse of The Great Pumpkin, there’s plenty of other activities taking place to help you celebrate:</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong>THURSDAY AND FRIDAY</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><em>Blount Mansion</em> will present its annual <strong>“Ghosts and Ghouls Walking Tour”</strong> of downtown Knoxville at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Costumed guides will lead groups by lantern light through downtown streets to the places where tales of bravery, murder and intrigue originally took place. Admission is $8 for adults ($6 for students), and the mansion is located at 200 W. Hill Ave. in downtown Knoxville. For more information, call 525-2375.</li>
<li><em>James White’s Fort</em> will be the launching point for <strong>“Hearthscares: The Ghost Tour of Downtown Knoxville,”</strong> which takes place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, starting at the fort, located at the intersection of Hill Avenue and Hall of Fame Drive in downtown Knoxville. The tours will cover about a mile. Admission is $8 for adults 13 and older and $6 for children ages 5-12. Call 525-6514.</li>

<p style="text-align: center"><strong>THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Maple Lane Farms</strong> (1040 Maple Lane, Greenback) is turning its <strong>11th Annual Corn Maze</strong> into a haunted attraction starting at dusk on Friday and Saturday. Chick-Fil-A is sponsoring this year’s (not-haunted) theme of “Eat More Chikin,” and the events feature a 10-acre corn maze, a pumpkin patch, hayrides, a rock wall and more. No pets are allowed, and the event wraps up this weekend. Admission is $11 for 12 and up, $9 for kids 6-11 and not recommended for 5 and under. For more information, call 856-3517.</li>
<li>The <strong>Oakes Farm Corn Maze “Trail of Doom,”</strong> 8240 Corryton Road in Corryton, will operate Thursday through Saturday. Admission is $15 for adults and $13 for kids ages 10 and younger, although it’s billed as “not for the faint of heart.” The “Trail of Doom” opens at sundown. (Not recommended for small children). <li>The <strong>“FrightWorks” haunted house</strong> is set up at 6634 Central Avenue Pike in Knoxville and is open 7-11 p.m. Thursday and 7 to midnight Friday and Saturday. <li><strong>“Frightmare Manor”</strong> is a double attraction located in the old Dandridge Seafood Restaurant on Highway 11-E between Jefferson City and Morristown (physical address: 7588 W. Andrew Johnson Highway, Talbott). Billed as “an intense, startling, often in-your-face haunted attraction.” Hours are 7-11 p.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. <li><strong>“Dead Man’s Farm,”</strong> a haunted house set up at 9567 Highway 11 in Lenoir City, is open 7-11 p.m. Thursday and 7 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $12 per person. <li><em>Children&#8217;s Theatre of Knoxville</em> will present the stage play <strong>“The Canterville Ghost”</strong> at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday at the playhouse at 800 Tyson St. in Knoxville; tickets are $11 per show.</li>
<li>The <em>Wild Thyme Players</em> theater company will present the stage play <strong>“A Kinder, Gentler Vampire”</strong> at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5401 Tiffany Lane in Knoxville. Tickets are $15/$10 for seniors. For more information, call 932-6738.</li>

<p style="text-align: center"><strong>FRIDAY</strong></p>

<li>The <em>Knoxville Police Department</em> will hold its <strong>Halloween in the City</strong> from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Safety City, off Concord Street (between Kingston Pike and Sutherland Avenue) in Knoxville. Festivities will include free food and beverages, a costume contest, a magic show, a model train display, clowns, games and candy. Admission is free. For more information, call 215-7103.</li>
<li>For the <em>Last Friday Art Walk</em> in downtown Maryville on Friday night, the 16-piece big band known as <em>The Streamliners</em> will transform into <strong>“The Screamliners”</strong> for a special Halloween show at <strong>The Capitol Theatre</strong>, 127 W. Broadway Ave. in downtown Maryville. Patrons are encouraged to dress up and swing to popular Halloween dance hits beneath classic horror videos on the big screen. It begins at 9 p.m.; admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Call 980-1966.</li>

<p style="text-align: center"><strong>SATURDAY</strong></p>

<li>The second annual <strong>Trunks &amp; Treats Halloween celebration</strong> will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at New Midland Plaza, located in Alcoa. Several churches have combined through Blount Family Ministries to host the event. Last year, 5,000 people attended, and organizers said they plan to hand out half a million pieces of candy. Everyone in the community is invited, and everything will be free of charge.</li>
<li>If the temps are too chilly for your trick-or-treaters, the <strong>Mall at Knoxville Center</strong> (3001 Knoxville Center Drive, Knoxville) and <strong>West Town Mall</strong> (7600 Kingston Pike, Knoxville) both offer free alternatives on Saturday. At West Town, Dr. Despicable will be on hand to entertain the kids with a magic show in the amphitheater. Trick-or-treating will be open at Knoxville Center from 4-7 p.m., while the hours at West Town are from 5-8 p.m., with the magic show at 8. For more information, call 544-1501.</li>
